Original era manufacture. Swivel bale, front seamed, reflective edge steel helmet, with a lot number of 942 (can't make out the letter code), original sewn dark OD canvas chinstraps with darkened steel fittings.Original GI finish to the interior and exterior of the helmet; on the helmet at the time of our purchase was this really salty, 2nd pattern Marine Corps helmet cover. While original, it may not be original to the helmet, as the rust patterns dont't match up. Oh well, it is what it is, and is how it came to us.Westinghouse high pressure liner, with a light OD webbing, sweatband and adjustable nape strap, all displaying honest wear and age. The leather chinstrap is in poor condition, but appears to be full length, so may be able to be repaired enough for display. Good example of a service-worn steel helmet, perfect for a USMC combat display and priced certainly less than a by-gosh real Gyrene WWII helmet.
