Original period manufacture. Uncut 16 inch blade bayonet made by Union Fork and Hoe (UFH) and dated 1943. This manufacturer of 1905-42 bayonets, produced around 385,000 of these in 1942 and 1943. Many of those were later modified by having their blades cut down to 10 inches. Mix of steel patina and parkerized finish to the blade surface. Few spots of minor denting to the top of the spine, and a light attempt at intelligent, period sharpening on the cutting edge. The tip retains it's proper configuration. Most of the original finish remains on the guard and pommel, the lock mechanism works properly, nice set of black plastic ribbed grips. Original finish to the fiber glass scabbard body, showing some wear to the lower edge on one side, mix of steel patina and original finish on the scabbard throat.
