Original period manufacture. Uncut, 16 inch bladed bayonet made by WT and dated 1943 on the ricasso. About 50% of the parkerized finish remains, no nicks in the cutting edge, with period sharpening to the cutting edge. Serial number 1128. Mix of steel patina finish to the guard and pommel, the lock button works properly, and the ribbed brown plastic grips display typical age and wear with a thin crack in the left grip plate. Original OD plastic scabbard with an overpainted finish, which has been cleaned away at the scabbard throat. The tip of the scabbard has separated along the seam on each side. A little glue should work here, or, simply replace the scabbard. The rarest of the WWII 16 inch bayonets, only 60,000 produced by Wilde Drop Forge Tool Company in WWII.
