Original era manufacture. A fine quality precision instrument made by William Ainsworth & Sons, Denver Colorado. Nomenclature tag on the casing with a 1943 date. The interior of the case is clean, the bubble level is operable, the needle points North, but takes a while to settle down.Sound russet leather case with a snap closure button. Normal age and wear, from the estate of a WWII US Army artillery officer.
