Original era manufacture.Wrap brooch medal named on the reverse to William Frederick Waddell 1941. Bars on the original ribbon for second, third and fourth awards of his GC medal. Online research shows a William F Waddell, 265 88 05, as serving on the USS Helena 1931, USS Ranger 1937, USS Texas 1940, USS New York 1941, USS Kent 1941, USS Hopi 1944, USS Duane 1944and the USS Bremerton in 1948. This guy got around. The USS Hopi was a seagoing Tug which participated in the Sicily campaign and Salerno landingsMedal is sound, no fraying to the ribbon, just typical age and wear.
