Original period manufacture. Early production US Navy Mk2 utility knife by Pal. None of the original finish remains on the blade, being replaced by and even steel patina, from service use. Old service sharpening on the cutting edge, the point remains sharp.Sound stacked leather grip, with rings of red paint in the recesses, done by the original owner to make his knife identifiable from those of his fellow crew. Thick pommel disc, displaying a rod-type tang.Original U.S.N. marked leather sheath, of riveted and sewn construction, which also display the same red paint. The owners initials can be seen stamped into the leather just below the USN. While overall sound, the pommel strap is broken and missing the female portion of the snap closure.
