Original era manufacture. White topped visor hat for a US Navy officer. Hand embroidered Navy emblem on the cap band.The hat is in sound condition, the sweatband is securely sewn to the body of the hat, and has a named label inside to James Getty Shields Jr U.C. Taking a quick look on Ancestry shows that he was born in 1918, and passed in 1985. During WWII he was awarded the Bronze Star and served aboard a Destroyer, retiring in the rank of Commander. Good research potential.
