Original era manufacture. This is an excellent photo album, one compiled by an individual with an excellent photographic eye and descriptive abilities. It consists of 142 original black and white images taken during WWII by a man stationed there. Generally the pages show four individual photos, with an indepth description of their content on the preceding page. While the New Hebrides escaped the destruction visited on many other Pacific islands during WWII, it nontheless served as an important supply and provisioning base during the war. Supposedly it served as the fictionalized location for the musical "South Pacific". The content primarily concerns itself with buildings and the locals but a fair amount of military content is included. The best part is that each photograph is described and often the individuals pictured identified.
