Original period manufacture.Standard US Navy officers hat of WWII, removable khaki cotton top with what is likely a sterling hat device. The interior of the hat shows a calling card to a Richard Devereux Hill USN. Doing a quick bit of online research a man with that name was found who served as a bomb disposal officer and ended the war with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. The hat shows considerable wear and use but still displays well. Good research potential.
