Original era artwork. Oil on wood, depicting a line of GI Puptents set up near Yanten (Yontan) Airfield in 1945. The artist used the paints available to him at the time, greens, browns, gray and black, all colors associated with military use. On the reverse of the board a group photo of Japanese soldiers has been shellacked in place, along with two explanatory notes about the photo, and content of the painting. The author of the note identifies himself as Edward J. Reilly, former Mess Sergeant of the 77th Infantry Division. He apparently made an error in identifying the Engineer unit whose tents are shown in the painting. Oh well, memory is the first thing to go they say...Board measures 15 x 11 inches, and has warped a bit from age.
