Original era manufacture. Little definitive information exists regarding these interesting WWII combat knives. Made from cut-down 45-70 blade, fitted with a simple rubber tube grip, and a stamped steel guard with four domed protrusions.The scabbard is a cut-down 45-70 steel scabbard; as the blade in this example is in the bright, I feel it is a cut-down Civil War socket bayonet blade.Supposedly produced for supplying Philippine guerrillas during WWII fighting the Japanese occupation; hence the drop knife moniker.See book III, MH Cole, page 163 for additional information.These are original WWII collector items, made by, or for soldiers fighting in the Pacific and European Theaters during the war; sold as collector items only.The possession of these knives in some states/countries is prohibited.
