Original era manufacture. This is a post WWII production medal, with a crimp brooch suspension, the ribbon does not glow however. The highest level civilian medal to be created and awarded during the war, with very few having ever been presented. I believe the last official award was given in 1952. Notable recipients include John Garand, Bob Hope, Irving Berlin, Enrico Fermi, J. Robert Oppenheimer and J. Edgar Hoover. Most encountered today were made for the collector's market, with original production examples being quite scarce, and fairly expensive.
