Original era manufacture. This is a great thing for two reasons, first of all, it's a transport box for a US Army Signal Corps Battery Box, you know, one of those things instantly thrown away once the contents were removed. The second thing is that it was used to store a GI's WWII souvenirs for transport home, The MEDALS is written in pencil on three sides of the box and the lid.
