Original era manufacture. A wonderful example of a classic WWII aircraft trench art ashtray, from the estate of a US Army 6th Division officer. The removable B-25 aircraft is made from shell brass, with two .50 caliber projectiles as its engines, and complete .50 caliber round as the fuselage. The mounting post is a deactivated US .20 mm round with an aluminum nosecap and steel body. The base is a large caliber Imperial Japanese Navy shell casing measuring 170 mm across its base. Set into the top edge of the casing are four silver Philippine 50 centavo coins. On the side of the central support post is a post WWII brass plaque installed by the US veteran in later years, it reads "LUZON PI 1945".A great piece of WWII Trench Art.
