Original era manufacture. US WWI M1910 Messkit, issued during WWII to a member of the 863rd Bomb Squadron, 493rd Bomb Group during WWII. The lid has been wonderfully hand decorated with the profile of the B-17 "Baby Me" (43-38266), and noting the locations in which he served with that unit. This messkit was once part of the famed Trench Art collection of Jane A. Kimball, author of the book, "Trench Art, An Illustrated History". A photo of her book is shown for context, it is not included in the price.
