Original era manufacture. This is very interesting lot, consisting of a very well-filled out logbook and USN Pilot Wings. The pilot served with Patrol Bombing Squadron 151, flying PV-1 Ventura's in the South Pacific during WWII. The logbook covers the time period of August 1942-September 1945. With combat patrol entries beginning on August 13 1944 with a bombing mission at Nauru, September 24 bombed Yap island, December 9 bombed Rota, on the 13th Pagan and the 21st Woleai. January 23 1945 they provided fleet coverage and a strike on Iwo Jima. On the 17th of February they provided Fleet Coverage and the Iwo Landing, on the 24th they bombed Puluwat. There's more but I think you get the idea. Taped inside the cover of his logbook are the orders qualifying him as a Navy Pilot, his US Navy Identification Card and a newspaper clipping stating that his squadron was the first medium bomber squadron to operate off of Iwo after the initial landings and while fighting was still going on. With the book is a pair of LGB (Balfour) marked gilt wings with a pinback reverse. Excellent research opportunity.
