Original era manufacture. Massive bolo style blade as made by Village Blacksmith and so marked. The blade is very clean, in fact, I took it out the shop after Terri worked her photographic magic on it, and gave the blade a light bath, so it looks even better than our photos. Lots of original cross grain polish, zero corrosion pitting, nice contrast to the lettering and factory edge. Just a hint of age staining, but overall, a very nice example.Damage free original finish wooden grips, secured with four brass rivets. Very minor marring and denting from light handling.Sound russet leather scabbard with a brass throat, and clear makers marks on the reverse, USMC BOYT 44. Light surface marring from handling and wear.Village Blacksmith is one of the more commonly seen makers of this massive knife, this example stands out due to its very clean condition.
