Original era manufacture. Early pattern tan canvas cover in good condition, unlined and made without a drain-hole in the bottom. Ink stamped name in several places, the clearest is on the reverse of the cover, J.P.ZAUG. Black enameled canteen with an early style black plastic cap which seems to be stuck in place. Neck chain is present, several abrasions and chips in the surface, 1942 & US on the bottom. Tinned steel, A.G.M.CO. 1942 marked cup, corrosion staining in the bottom of the cup which matches the bottom of the canteen, so I believe this to be an original set, not put together postwar. John Patrick Zaug, Ancestry USMC muster rolls September 1940-October 1945. Served with the 8th AA Bn, Spring 1945 found the unit on Okinawa guarding Yonton Airfield, 1 KIA, 10 WIA. The base of the left side securing stud is weak, use care when opening the flap.
