Original era manufacture. Unlined, light OD canvas cover without a drain hole in the bottom. Color remains strong. Aluminum, WWI style A.G.M. Co.1944 dated canteen with no cork, WWI pattern aluminum cup, with some interesting numbers stamped into the handle and the bottom of the cup. Stenciled onto the front of the cover are the numerals 813, possibly 8th regiment, 1st battalion, 3rd company. If so, this hard fighting Marine regiment saw service on Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Okinawa.
