Original era manufacture. Here's one that didn't lay in a footlocker during WWII. Camillus mfg blade with a damage-free cast zinc grip. The USMC motto on a scroll is fairly visible along with the makers name and address on the ricasso. The blade has been intelligently sharpened and the tip lightly blunted. The tip can be dressed out again, measuring now just under 7 inches in length. Sound original leather scabbard with a period green camo paint applied to the obverse. Box-tied leather leg tie, blood staining on the reverse of the scabbard. One source states the production run of this pattern knife to have been less than 15,000, compared to the 2.5 million M3 pattern knives produced. The design for the USMC stiletto was based on the British Fairbairn-Sykes using non-strategic materials for its grip. Their initial issue was to elite units of the USMC including Marine Raider and Marine Parachute detachments.
