Original era manufacture. Tan canvas seabag with stenciled emblems of the 5th Marine and 2nd Marine Divisions. Above, is the stenciled name and service number of D.H.Watkins U.S.M.C. 569501 in white paint. Checking Ancestry, I found a David H. Watkins with that service number in January 1945 serving in the 8th Training Bn, Infantry Training Regiment Camp LeJeune NC, April 1945 with the 59th Replacement Draft FMF San Francisco, and July 1945 1st Bn, 28th Marines, 5th Division FMF. In January 1946 he was found serving with HQ 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division. He received his discharge from the Marines in April 1947. The bag is sound, displaying staining from service use and a few small holes. No visible dates or markings on the interior.
