Original era manufacture. US WWII Women's Naval WAVES Identified Seersucker belted dress.This Seersucker dress is very unusual and a hard one to find. This dress is belted, can be adjusted on either side by hooks and is sewn directly to the dress. It has been modified with the addition of a buckle to extend the waist. It is a button down rather than pull over. Painted brass buttons, short sleeved. Hidden button down pocket under the collar and another long pocket for tools. This dress was requested by the wife of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy and was designed by American Couturier Mainbocher who was known for simple elegance and for designing the 1st strapless gown. All buttons are present as well as all hooks and eyes.
