Original era manufacture. All brass construction with a copper chinstrap, when display upright, it takes the form of a US Navy officers hat, when reversed, it's an ashtray with rests for two cigarettes. Stamped USS Melville on the inside of the top. Measures just under 4 inches across.The USS Melville, AD-2, was a US Navy Destroyer Tender, who service in both WWI and WWII. She was commissioned in 1915, and sold for scrap in 1948.
