Original era manufacture. An interesting lot of 12 battlefield relics and improvised weapons from an old Southern California collection.Part of the collection recently purchased by Terri and I from a friend, and fellow collector who recently passed. He had eclectic tastes, something akin to my own, andhis collection has provided us with a number of interesting lots which we have beenlisting on our site since September. This box lot has been sitting on the floor in my shipping area since then, and it is high time for itto be listed hereand sent to someone else's house to sit on their floor. All kidding aside, it is really an interesting grouping with a nice assortment of converted tools and other implements of mayhem included. Several of the highlights include a relic German ersatz bayonet, rusty, but the lock button still works well and overall is very sound. A 1914 (or 15) Ghurka kukri with an intact wooden handle. The leg prop from a trench shield. A 1914 dated hand-held Bill Hook with wood handle. A relic condition set of steel wire cutters, and more. It is well known that many ordinary tools were modified into improvised trench weapons during the Great War, we feel quite confident that many of these offered here good examples of that transformation. The sad part is that his collecting notes disappeared, so we do not have a record of where this lot came from. Many of theitems have the appearance of having been in a display, perhaps in Europe, or here in the States, theyjust have that look. In any case it will be a lot of fun going through them, just be careful as some are still fairly sharp. None of the items are crumbling or flaking away into dust, all are basically sound and ready for your display.
